100 post and my first give-away

Well, I have finally reached the golden number of 100 posts!
And it only took almost a YEAR.

I'm not going to even try to come up with any 100 lists.

I find that no matter how much I enjoy other peoples lists, I never make it to the end of them.

So I will save myself all the work, and you all the torturous and tedious reading and skip right past that little blogger tradition.

However, I am not without a certain sentiment for time honored old traditions. you know, those ones that are at least 2 years old.

So I will be having a give-away!

I know that a lot of give-aways basically only have one requirement.

That would be a warm body capable of typing at least a one word comment.

I've been thinking about how I will conduct my first give-away for a couple of months now.
I admit that this really has been a case of having far too much time on my hands.
Especially since I still haven't decided what rules I want to go with.

I guess the first thing I should do is to show and tell you about the item I plan to give to the lucky winner.

I have a great friend that lives about 7 houses away from me. Her name is Lisa Killian. She is one of the nicest and easiest to be with people I know.

Well Lisa's husband's name is Spence. Another really likable person. Spence's mom and dad started up a food business a while ago.
They make and sell this really incredible candied popcorn. I guess that would be the best description of it.

They call it Killian Korn, and trust me this stuff is to die for.
I introduced my daughter-in-law Lisa to it a while ago and she is a hard core addict by now. For Christmas I got her a gift box of it filled with I think, 4 different flavors.

She was thrilled of course. She actually ate all of it by that evening.
I'm supposing that my son and little grandaughters helped out in the looting of Lisa's Killion Korn.

Trust me this is the good stuff.

I will be giving one gift box filled with 4 different flavors of Killian Korn to the winner of my little give-away.

I'll now explain a little more about the different flavors of the KK.

There are two different basic kinds.

They make a wicked good glazed variety and then there are the cream flavors.

Cream flavors are coated in a white chocolate base and then a coating of flavoring.

Glazed is coated in different flavors of glaze and it usually has some kind of nuts mixed in as well.

Kinda like Cracker Jack or Crunch and Munch, only BETTER!

Well the gift package I have put together has 3 cream flavors and one glazed.
The creams are, Lemon, Orange and Vanilla Nut.

The glazed flavors usually come in bigger bags than the creams. Trust me though, the cream flavors are so rich that most people can only eat one handful of it and they're satisfied. (Obviously this does NOT apply to my dear Lisa)

Oh, I almost forgot, the glazed flavor is Macadamia Nut. It's one of MY favorite flavors.
So there you have it. Killian Korn. If you want to find out more about this yummy stuff, you can go to their website. It's http://www.killiankorn.com/.

All right I think I have come up with the rules.

Just leave me a comment.

If you are usually a lurker and I don't really know you, then please introduce yourself and tell me how you found me.

You won't get any extra entries for it but I figure it's the neighborly thing to do. I would really like to meet you after all.

I guess I should give a way for people to earn extra entries. Hmm, okay,
here goes my ego taking over.

Let me know which of my posts you have enjoyed the most. Or, (and even I can see that I am being a little full of myself.)
Tell me the names of at least three members of my family. That includes any family member I have ever written about.

Well, there you have it. Fairly simple, don't you think?

I'll announce the winner next Saturday (Hopefully) around 5:00 my time. I hope you will enter, and if I don't know you already I hope you will introduce yourself. Until then I guess I'll see you all next Saturday!

Goodbye now and Good luck.

Umm, you can go now.

Really.

Since I'm first, do I get an extra entry already???

My favorite post: The ones about all of your children :) I loved how you told stories about all of them, and by those I mean, the ones that you did for them each individually.

Your family: Husband Donald, Son Donald, Kelly, Shawn. Daughters, Heidi and Courtney. Granddaughters: Alexandra, Abbey, Lindsay, Elisabeth, and Loralie. Daughter-in-law: Lisa. Son-in-law: Jeff. And your cats name is Sasha, but I lovingly call her squishface.

How many entries do I get? lol

Do I get an extra credit entry for copying off of ka trina's post?

just kidding, you know that i know 3 family members: kelly courtney shawn don donald heidi

do you select the winner from random out of a hat?

can you believe that i have 47 posts already in just 3 1/2 weeks? maybe i should slow down. but my posts are way shorter than yours. 47 of mine are probably like 10 of yours.

ok am i officially entered?

oh yeah, today i thought of how i'm going to do my next giveaway, and it's still a couple weeks away. i guess we both have too much time on our hands. Actually, I cooked up my idea while i was at work.

Happy 100th post!
Now 3 members of you family, your son, Shawn, and granddaughters Abby and Lindsay.
I'm new to you blog, but my favourite post so far has been the one about Shawn and his pencil sharpeners ~ it made me smile and the picture of Shawn made my day.

Love,
Amanda x
(hope i'm lucky ~ those treats are worth breaking the diet for! LOL!)

You have me salivating from your description! Hi Susan. I'm Emily, married to your cousin Matt. Just in case you forgot. Please enter me!

I loved the post "Shawn's shopping list." I had to go back in your archives to find it, but I thought it was so sweet, and funny!

As for family members, I've met a few through blogs. Of course there's Shawn, Donald & Lisa, and Heidi. Yes, I know there's more :)

Lisa Christine said...

Oh, Killian Korn. That stuff is HEAVENLY. And the creamed ones....mmm....

Please hide it away before I come over tonight. It will be way too tempting to see it just sitting there, tempting me.

My favorite post has been the family dinner one. But I also truly enjoyed the one where you wrote about trying to find an outfit for that dinner the arc was putting on. That was so hilarious. I should probably go re-read it for a good laugh because I think you posted that last summer. The funniest part was when you wrote about women with a certain arm circumference. Best line ever.

Family members: I am going to be a little different and go with Maizy, Thomas, and Marie.

Do I get extra points for creativity?

Now go ahead and make me the winner. I promise it won't look too suspicious!

Wow! It took me two years to get 100 posts! Good for you! And Killian corn is TO DIE FOR. Unfortunatley, I am not allowed to eat that, so i am just leaving this comment for who ever the lucky winner will be . .. They will certainly enjoy this givaway!!!!

Susan, you have so much good stuff going on here. 100 posts, pop corn, etc...I love it all. I don't really know which post is my favorite, but your recent post about Shawn and institute has really got me thinking. Daniel and I have recently been asked to help take a disabled lady to church once a month. Obviously not a big deal, and is hardly even out of our way, but it's nice to know that we're helping somebody who really needs it, and that it makes a difference. Your post reminded me that I always need to look for ways I can help others, especially those less fortunate than me.

Good morning Susan. My name is Mike Brinkerhoff and I am your younger brother. My wife Cindy is pictured in your sidebar with a Cheezy Poof up her nose. Odd, but you cleverly explain that she can only eat through her nose.

Let's see... Three members of your family?? Well, there's Me, and Cindy... but you might mean more like your offspring. So there's The Donald, and Shawn, and of course Courtney. Hey, I did it!!

Favorite post?? I loved your early, just getting the feel of this blogging thing, and one that has always stuck out in my mind was "Of Fish, And Chips, and Drivers Licenses." Great stuff.

Congratulations on the 100th post! Please pick me (regardless of fairness) because I really love popcorn, and Lisa already got some. :)

I know Lisa and Spence. They were my neighbors and also grew up by their families. How fun. I love the Killian products. Great giveaway Susan.

I loved your post on sharpening pencils with Shawn. Everytime I use a pencil I think of him smiling and sharpening :)

3 members of your family huh. There are so very many. Donald, Lisa and your grandgirls.

Congrats on your posts and keep us smiling.

My Three Sons said...

First of all, congrats on your 100 posts!

Ok, 3 family members are:

Donald
Shawn
Don
Lisa

woops, that's 4. Killian Corn, yum! what a fun idea :)

Secondly, I just read your last post & am brokenhearted for Shawn. I know how you feel, being close to my sister, Marisa, and seeing how hurt she gets when people aren't kind to her, or simply ignore her. It truly boggles my mind. I, personally, think you should go with your plan to speak to the Young Adults, however, I understand your dilemma. If nothing happens, it would be very easy to get bitter. I sure wish my brothers were here, they'd take Shawn to institute, but they're all down in Idaho, darn. You'll have to keep us updated!

My Three Sons said...

p.s. I forgot to tell you my favorite post. Ok, my favorites are when you tell stories about Shawn. Again, I love them, because I completely relate. He just reminds me of Marisa so much. I could tell you some doosies (is that how you spell doosie?)about Marisa and her quirkiness. Anyway...so thank you for sharing your son with us, he brings a light of joy into each post!

I can eat Killian Korn on MY diet. {smug smile}

I live with 3 of your family members. I always enjoy a good Shawn post. I really like the ones that have pictures of him. I love that guyzo!

Susan, I ADORE Killian Korn...

a fun little fact, Lisa and Spence used to be in our ward, and I babysat her kids years ago.

My favorite post was the one about your theory on all the silver cars, because now, every time I see a silver car I think of you. And it makes me smile.

Family members: Don, Donald, Lisa, Courtney, Heidi, Jeff, Shawn, Abby, Lindsay, ok, there's more, but that's good for now.

Congrats on 100 posts!

My Three Sons said...

Susan, I know this has nothing to do with your exciting giveaway, but I wanted to tell you that Saturday morning we are having book club! I don't know if you're still interested or if you read the book "Cold Sassy Tree", but if you are, let me know! Talk to you later...

Cindy Brinkerhoff said...

HI Suzan - I am going with the toilet paper post! I loved it...

and you know, that I know, who your family members are, and I love them all very much so I will just leave it at that!

Congrats on a 100! (I have never bothered to look at how many posts I have done and for now my blog won't let me in so I may never get to check:)

I love Lisa Killian!! I have the lovely opportunity to see her once a month at work and I enjoy seeing her smiling face walk through the door. She is a doll and you are lucky to be her neighbor, and vice versa.

As for Killian Korn - we give it away to our patients who are getting their braces off to celebrate their liberty to eat once again eat hard sticky food! (And since my braces are still on I will have to wait a few more months to partake of that good stuff.)

As for a favorite post - I can never pick just one - but I loved your posts featuring each one of your children.

My favorite post was the one about Shawn and the pencils. I completely understood because of my personal experience with Autistic children!!! I loved it,
well as for the names of your family, I could go on forever, but will follow the entry criteria - ha ha, so here they are.....drum roll please....
Shawn.......of course
Lisa.....beautiful
Donald......well what can I say ha ha ha ha......(sorry Donald, you know we luv ya!!!).

I will have to put one criteria of my own in, if I win, I would like you to send it to my gorgeous sister in law, Jennifer H, because the postage would cost you a fortune to send it to me, and she is just an amazing person, as you know - so here's hopeing that it ends up in TEXAS!!!

Lots of luv - M.....xxx

I'm here! I'm here! I've been on hiatus for a little while but missing my blogging so bad. I'm an addict. Thanks for the heads up.

I know you through the blog world and we met through Debie who is the new proud momma of a sweet baby girl. We also are common blogging friends with Jan. And I am so glad you introduced me to your daughter Heidi.

3 members of your family-Heidi;) and Shawn, and granddaughter Lorilai. Not sure if I spelled it right but I love her name. I was a huge fan of Gilmore Girls.

My favorite posts are too many to number. I love the way you share your life with us, and I sincerely hope that one day we have the opportunity to meet in person.

Happy 100th! and may I win the giveaway :D

Just enjoying a little blogcation.

Oh, I want to win this giveaway.

Janice said...

Oh I forgot to introduce myself. I somehow found Lisa and then Donald's blog. I read them daily. Then, I spy over here occasionally.

Jenn said...

Heidi, Donald, Shawn, Kelly, Courtney. And of course my favorite little ones: Alexandra, Lorelai, and Elisabeth.

I'm going to start my blog back up again soon. I'm leaving for an archaeological dig in Belize - perhaps I'll bring home a "give away" from there.

I hope I win!!!

Josephine said...

Well, I just found you through Lisa's blog, and she's amazing, so I figured anyone related to her in any way must be pretty amazing too! And as far as I can tell, your son Donald exists just to make all the other husbands in the world look bad....so you must have done something right raising him!
I haven't read many of your posts yet, but the post about Shawn and institute has me hooked now because it sounds like everything I worry about for my own daughter's future.

Alisa said...

Hi...I followed your command, and came to your blog from Lisa's!

Based on Donald's blog, I'm guessing he must have been one heck of a kid to raise. Hahaha...but I love Josephine's comment about Donald making all other husbands look bad. Could Lisa's ravings really be true?!

And besides...I couldn't turn down the opportunity to get some candied popcorn!!

(P.S. Love the clothes you make the girls...and I hope you add more to your Etsy shop in the future...and keep using Lorelei as the model!)

Lori said...

Thanks for the updates on Lisa's blog - that's how I came to find you. Praying for your family....

Looking forward to checking out your etsy shop and thanks for the tasty giveaway! :)

Lisa Christine said...

ummm....is there a winner????

And is her name Lisa?????

OK, enough messing around on the computer....I have to get back to the hospital.

Lisa Christine said...

This is Donald leaving a comment under Lisa's name.

My favorite post is any post that mentions me.

Family members: Sophie [the dog that you let the pound kill], the first dog that we had that Heidi and I found dead in the backyard, and Ronia the cat.

Now pick me so that I can give my sweet wife the Killian Korn that she SO deserves.

SuzanSayz said...

Donald, we did not let the pound kill Sophie there was a lot more to it than that. As for poor little Ginger (I think that was her name) I have been heartsick about that for more than 26 years now. So please hold the salt and the lemon juice.
And Ronia is probably one of the happiest cats on the face of this earth. The people who adopted her treat her like an Egyption Queen.
